Love this thread guys! I try to cook something homemade every day, and this gave me a whole bunch of new inspiration. Whenever I try something, I'll let you know how it turned out ;) I'll be posting some of my own recipes some time soon as well :)

Okay, I promised I would so here goes! If you like this one I will make more - I enjoy cooking and do it a lot.

Ratatouille from the oven - feeds 4 persons (or 3 hungry ones :p)
Perfect for lunch! The garlic taste is very present and my co-workers avoided me the rest of the day .. ;)

1 onion
1 eggplant
1 zucchini
2 tomatoes
Fresh thyme
Balsamico vinegar
Olive oil
250 grams of spaghetti
Fresh basil
2 cloves of garlic
150/200 grams of cottage cheese
Optional: Parmesan cheese

1. Preheat the oven at 220 degrees Celsius.
2. Cut the eggplant and zucchini in half rings
3. Peel the onion and cut the tomatoes and onion into chunks/parts
4. Take the thyme and pull off the leaves
5. Put the veggies together in an oven tray and mix with the balsamico vinegar, olive oil and thyme.
6. Put in the middle of the oven and bake for 30 mins. Check halfway through and mix.
7. In the meantime, cook the spaghetti according to the instructions. (For al dente, about 8 to 9 minutes)
8. Cut the basil up and mix half of it with the cottage cheese. Add salt en pepper to taste.
8. Cut the garlic in thin slices. Heat a frying pan with 2 table spoons of olive oil and cook until crispy and golden brown.
9. Take the pasta out of the water, and let it leak. Afterwards, take the garlic (including the olive oil) and mix through the spaghetti.
10. Plate with the spaghetti, veggies, a spoonful of cottage cheese and the rest of the basil. (Add parmesan to taste, if you like)

Classic Apple Pie

Of course, no birthday without a pie. Here it is :)

Number of people: depends on whether you want to share or not :D

Time: I'd say about 2 hours (1 hour prep, 1 hour in the oven)

Required ingredients:

  • Dough:
    • 300 gr flour
    • 100 gr sugar (or a little less, to your liking)
    • A little bit of vanilla sugar
    • 200 gr butter
    • 1 egg
    • 2 tbsp water
    • A pinch of salt
    • A little bit of lemon zest
  • Filling:
    • 5-6 big apples
    • 200 gr raisins
    • 100 gr sugar (or a little less, to your liking)
    • A little bit of vanilla sugar
    • 4 tsp cinnamon
    • A little bit of lemon juice
  • Other:
    • Egg yolk to cover the top
    • Some butter to grease the baking dish
    • Some flour to keep the dough from sticking to the table (or wherever you put it on)
  • Put the raisins in some tepid water
  • Mix all the ingredients for the dough, wrap the dough in foil and put it in the refrigerator for about 30 min
  • Meanwhile, peel the apples, cut them in quarters and remove the cores. Then slice the quarters.
  • Mix all ingredients for the filling
  • Start preheating the oven to 180°C
  • Get the dough from the refrigerator and keep 1/3 aside for the top. Roll the other 2/3 with a rolling pin until it fits the baking dish. (Alternatively, put the dough directly into the baking dish and push flat against the bottom and sides with your hands.) Remove excess dough from the edges and use wherever needed (if you have some thin parts). Remember to grease the baking dish before you put the dough in.
  • Add the filling and press firmly (to get the apple slices close together, so it doesn't fall apart when you cut the pie later)
  • Roll the other 1/3 of the dough flat and cut into long ±1.5 cm wide strips to make a lattice work crust for the top
  • Cover the top with some egg yolk (mixed with a little bit of cream if you like)
  • Put the pie in the oven for about an hour and let it cool down

Gamma stop cooking? :D
for 1 serving

½ cup chocolate hazelnut spread
2 eggs

Preheat the oven to 375˚F (190˚C).
Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites and place into two bowls.
Mix the chocolate hazelnut spread into the bowl with the egg yolks.
In the second bowl, whisk 2 egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Fold ⅓ of the whipped egg whites into the chocolate/egg yolk mixture until fully incorporated. Add the remaining egg whites to the mixture and fold gently, but thoroughly, until the mixture is smooth.
Pour the mixture into a greased ramekin. Clean the rims so the soufflé rises evenly, and bake for 15-17 minutes.
Serve immediately.

Since I got inspired by the dish of @GammaDeltaII, I changed a few things

Penne with Bacon and Mozzarella

Ingredients :

- Penne
- bacon cubes
- 1 onion
- Fresh leek onion
- Fresh basil
- Baby Mozzarella
- 3 cloves garlic
- Red Bell pepper
- Cocktail tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Tomato paste
- 3 eggs

I could tell you the amount of what I used but actually I'm more the spontaneous cook so.....I forgot....

Time: well actually I am a Very organized cook, but to use the words of my wife... I am very slow..
Guess 40 min or so..

  • Cook the penne
  • Cut the onion in half rings, cut the leek onion in small pieces, cut the bell pepper in small pieces, cut the cocktail tomatoes in quarter pieces, cut the garlic (I'll squeeze it later on), wash the basil
  • Fry the bacon cubes in some olive oil a few minutes, after that add the onion (I added a little bit of tomato paste, for the taste)
  • Then add the bell pepper, the leek onions, the eggs as well as the squeezed garlic and stir-fry
  • Add the cocktail tomatoes sliced in quarter pieces, the baby mozzarella as well as the basil leaves
  • At the end mix it with the penne and season it to your liking

Here the result :

Once again, thanks to gamma :)
Basically this is your dish :p

Btw freaking took me ages to type this on the phone..

Revenge Solves Everything
Hey everyone!

A while ago (actually more than a year ago already) @shujinko created this thread to share and try recipes. Unfortunately no one really tried the recipe or shared his/her own recipe and the thread died. Now I thought it would be nice to revive it. Since the old thread was spammed, I created a new one. So, please, share your recipes and — also very important — add a picture of the result. Just keep it simple, so everyone can (try to) make it. :) (And, please, try not to spam this thread.)

Do i become master chef with this ?

Curry cauliflower from the oven

A tasty combination :p

Number of people: 2 regular or 1 hungry

Time: 1 hour probably

Required ingredients:
  • 1 cauliflower (not too large)
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 300-400 gr chicken fillets or breasts
  • 500 gr baby potatoes or potato cubes to fry
  • 1 cup of crème fraîche
  • 200 gr grated cheese
  • curry powder
  • paprika
  • ginger (powder or finely chopped)
  • parsley (fresh is best of course)
  • oregano (just for garnish on top)
  • salt & pepper
  • olive oil
  • Fry the baby potatoes or potato cubes in some olive oil until golden brown and put them in an oven dish
  • Chop the onion and garlic and fry in some olive oil until glassy
  • Cut the chicken fillets or breasts in small pieces and add to the onion and garlic
  • Season with salt, pepper, ginger, paprika and curry powder (don't be too conservative with the curry) and fry for a few minutes (the chicken doesn't have to be completely done yet)
  • Cut the cauliflower in small pieces and add to the rest
  • Add a little bit of water to steam the cauliflower for several minutes (if you choose to put a lid on the pan, remove it at the end to let the water evaporate)
  • Add the crème fraîche and cook for another minute
  • Slice the tomatoes into wedges, put them on top of the potatoes and sprinkle with some parsley
  • Add the cauliflower mixture to the oven dish and sprinkle with the grated cheese and some oregano
  • Put the dish in the oven for 5-10 minutes until the cheese on top is golden brown (you can add some breadcrumbs to make it more crispy)
